Program Overview
The Medical Assistant program at McCann Technical School is an instructional program that prepares individuals to function in a physician’s office or health care facility performing both business administration and clinical medical assistant skills. Business aspects of the program of instruction include correspondence, medical records management, insurance billing and coding, appointment scheduling, and medical transcription. Clinical aspects of study include preparation of the patient for and assisting with physical examination and treatment, assessment of vital signs, patient education, preparation and administration of medications, routine laboratory procedures including blood drawing, and performing electrocardiography.
In addition to being accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (www.neasc.org, 781.271.0022), The Medical Assisting program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (www.caahep.org,) upon the recommendation of the Medical Education Review Board (MAERB).
