The McCann Technical School Adult Education Program, in collaboration with the MassHire Berkshire Career Center and the Commonwealth Corporation, is offering a free 200-hour advanced manufacturing technology training program with credentials and career placement assistance. Our CTI program will provide students with industry training and hands-on experience working with today’s machines, software, and tools.

Automotive Technician Adult Education Course

Welding Adult Education Course
Are you ready for a career in the welding industry?
The McCann Technical School Adult Education Program, in collaboration with the MassHire Berkshire Career Center and the Commonwealth Corporation, is offering a free 200-hour welding training program with credentials and career placement assistance. Our CTI welding program will provide students with industry training and hands-on experience learning today’s welding techniques.
Students who are able to pass various welding qualification tests will receive certifications to the following codes:
- American Welding Society D1.1, Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) in all positions
- American Welding Society D1.1, Flux-Cored Arc Welding in all positions
- American Society of Mechanical Engineering Section IV, SMAW in positions 1G and 2G

600 Hour Journeyman Electrician Course
600 Hour Journeyman Electrician Course
The Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Electrician of the Division of Professional Licensure of the Commonwealth has approved McCann Technical School as a provider for the 600 hour electrical journeyman program.
This program is 600 hours of classroom instruction for electrical apprentices pursuing a career towards obtaining their journeyman's electrical license. It prepares and meets the requirements for the students to be eligible to take their Massachusetts Journeyman State Exam. Students will take 2 modules per school year - no classes are offered in the summer.
According to the Massachusetts State Board of Electrical Examiners, before an individual can be eligible to register for the electrical licensing exam, the individual must complete the following, both of which are approximately four years:
- 8,000 hours of employment as an apprentice under the direct supervision of a MA Class B Journeyman license
- 600 hours of classroom instruction in electrical code and theory from an approved school based on the current National Electrical Code
This program does not offer job placement at this time.
Modules are 75 hours. Module enrollment is determined by the regulations of the Board of State Examiners of Electricians of the Division of Professional Licensure of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, www.mass.gov/ocabr/licensee/dpl-boards/el/.
Winter 2026 Offerings:
- Module 2 - AC theory and systems (intro to AC theory, intro to fire alarm, data, security, identification and use of equipment, residential wiring) intro to blueprints (terminology wiring methods, grounding and bonding, math legends, etc)
- Module 4 - Grounding (theory, requirements, sizing) and conductors (types/insulation, sizing/rating, installation, splicing)
- Module 6- Motors (theory, DC, AC, controls, motor control centers, maintenance, calculations) and Codes (Massachusetts Electrical Code, Laws {MGL 141, 143, 148, 166, etc.}, Regulations {237 CMR}, State Building Code {780 CMR})
- Module 8 - Emergency systems (requirements, sizing, lighting), Code Requirements (Mass Code, CMR 237, apprenticeship) and specialties (high voltage, hazardous locations, life safety code, HVAC)

- Non-attendance alone does not qualify a student for a refund. Students must initiate, in writing, a withdrawal from the program
- Refunds are based on the student's official withdrawal as determined by the superintendent's office
- Full tuition refunds are granted for any program cancelled by McCann
- A full tuition refund is given before the first day of class, 75% tuition is given for class days 1-6, 50% for class days 7-10, and no tuition refund after 10 class days.
- Refunds are processed after the end of the refund period. Refund checks are mailed to the student's home address on file in the superintendent’s office.
- No refunds for books.

Master Electrician Course
150 Hour Journeyman Electrician Course
The Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Electrician of the Division of Professional Licensure of the Commonwealth has approved McCann Technical School as a provider for the 150 hour electrical masters program.
Class Information
The Massachusetts Board of State Examiners of Electricians of the Division of Professional Licensure of the Commonwealth (http://www.mass.gov/ocabr/licensee/dpl-boards/el/) has approved McCann Technical School as a provider for the 600 hour electrical journeyman program and 150 hour masters electrical program.
Classes will run every Monday & Wednesday evening from 5:45-9pm starting on Wednesday, September 3rd.
Requirements to apply for the Master Electrician License in Massachusetts:
- Must have a Massachusetts Journeyman license
- At least one year work experience
- 150 hours of Board-approved education
