Metal Fabrication

Students in the Metal Fabrication program receive instruction in both sheet metal fabrication and welding in order to develop a complete set of metal working skills.Students learn the theory behind the trade in the classroom, and then apply those lessons in the shop. Sheet metal training includes the layout, fabrication and installation of duct, fittings, and accessories associated with heating and ventilation.Instruction is also provided in the major welding processes; SMAW, GMAW, GTAW and FCAW. Cutting processes include oxy-acetylene, CNC and hand-held plasma, and various other mechanical cutting methods.Students are trained in the safe and proper use of the following equipment: welders, hydraulic press brake and shear, slip rolls, forming machines, and hand brakes. Our facility includes a full sheet metal shop, and 15 individual welding stations, complete with direct capture exhaust. The metal fabrication department helps students develop the skills and work ethic needed to be successful whether they decide to enter the workforce after graduation or pursue further education.
